(More customer reviews)I was thrilled to find a more pristine copy of this book to replace my crumbing 1904 version. This book is the origins of the myth that "female intelligence is a freak of nature" and that boys masturbating will cause blindness and insanity among many other misconceptions and beliefs. I had heard about it as a kid and spent many years scouring used books stores (WAY before the internet) before I finally found a copy. It was so fragile that I actually scanned it in my computer and manually proofed it so I could preserve the disintegrating copy. Whenever I need a good laugh, I pick up this volume - which was certainly NOT intended to amuse when written. There are now several copies available in the Amazon Marketplace at varying prices and conditions. If you are at all interested in studying our social history and mores, this is a great book to add to your collection!
