Complete Medicinal Herbal (Natural care) Review

Complete Medicinal Herbal (Natural care)

I have browsed several books on herbal medicine and treatments. While all suggested herbs for various maladies - none told me how use the herb (root or flower?) or how to make the various ointments, or tinctures or what the common dosage should be. This book was the first I found that does! For anyone curious about the history of herbal medicine and what practical treatments can be used, this is the book to start with!

It's been called everything from hemp and Mary Jane, to reefer, pot, andweed. Cannabis sativa—marijuana—offers therapeutic applications foreverything from Alzheimer's disease and AIDS to Crohn's disease andcancer, and yet it is at the center of a national debate over its medicinaluses. And although research and anecdotal evidence clearly support thebenefits of Cannabis sativa, use of the healing herb is hindered by misinformationand misunderstanding.

Carol S. Bott, a nurse and chemical dependency specialist, addresses thefalse claims about marijuana and provides a compelling case for using theherb to provide relief to innocent, suffering, and dying patients. With aclear and concise question-and-answer format, she provides a detailedguide for growing cannabis, instructions for cooking with it, and advice forpreparing topical applications. Bott emphasizes the appropriate medicaluses of marijuana and urges that patient use be informed by local and statelaw. Most importantly, she presents extensive research to support herposition that marijuana is one of the most healing and balancing herbsavailable today.

Whether you support the legalization of cannabis or are adamantly opposedto it, How-To Marijuana will give you invaluable insight into its uses andbenefits.

I am a frequent buyer of updated home medical books, and have pretty much seen them all. This one is quite superior! It is easy to find various medical conditions, complete in its coverage, and written in a way that the average layperson will understand. The illustrated color pictures are very well done, a rare treat, and contribute well to one's understanding of the copy. In short, it's the best home medical book I've ever seen. I recommend it without reservation.

American Medical Association Complete Guide to Men's Health Review

American Medical Association Complete Guide to Men's Health
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There is a recent surge of interest in the subject of Men's Health as it is well- known that on average women live longer, and have lower rates of mortality from major diseases, excepting Alzheimer's. This comprehensive guide presents in its opening sections a guide to healthy living, including a detailed covering of such topics as diet, exercise, dealing with stress, avoiding risky behavior etc. The aim is to enable the reader to understand how to improve his own life- style. The second section provides a medical guide to the 'systems of the body'.
The work is not focused on simply teaching us to try and extend life but rather how to make our lives healthier and happier.
My sense is that almost every reader will find some tip here or there which will improve in some way their health.

Medical Herbalism: The Science Principles and Practices Of Herbal Medicine Review

Medical Herbalism: The Science Principles and Practices Of Herbal Medicine
Average Reviews:

This is a great text for learning terminology such as herbal actions it's easy to read and understand. The discriptions are just long enough so that it does not include excess/repetative words. The materia medica is also written the same way, precise, it may be too brief for more advanced herbalists however for beginners it is perfect. The materia medica is not that big. For a more elaborate "indication" section you will probably have to read research. I use this as a text as a Herbal Science major, I don't think it is very readable for the layman trying to learn herbal medicine or if you are just interested in herbal medicine. It's written like an encyclopedia, so you jump to sections that you want. The first part of the book has plant constituents with drawings of organic molecules. The second part is organized according to body systems. It's very user friendly, the index has pretty much everything you want to find. Fantastic book as a text, I'll be using it for a long time.
