Now in its 5th edition, this book has become "thee" muscle testing book to have. Who's it for? Anyone who has a need to be able to MANUAL muscle test any of the body's muscles. This would include such professionals as doctors, nurses, physical therapists, athletic trainers, personal trainers, etc.
How does the book work? Well, you look up the particular muscle you want to test, look at the picture of the test position, and then simply apply manual pressure to the limb in the instructed direction. If it sounds easy, it is the way this book shows you- included are dozens and dozens of GREAT pictures that show you precisely what to do. So, if you have a need to regularly test muscles, I highly recommend you get this book- it's a little bit more expensive than some of the other muscle testing books, but its the best I've come across so far- in fact it sits right on my desk for reference. Health professionals might also be interested in The Sixty-Second Motivator to help get clients motivated to do their home exercise programs consistently.

Mosby's Guide to Physical Examination Review

I'm a medical student whose school uses Bates' guide... I must say that this book FAR surpasses Bates. Not only is the information complete, but the pictures and "jewels" it presents are wonderful. This is also better than the Schwartz (which I own also). If I could choose all over which book to buy of the three, I would DEFINITELY buy this one.

Dr. Eriksen's book is a significant contribution to the profession. Don't be misled by the title--this book is a must read for all chiropractors--not just upper cervical specialists. It provides the "intellectual ammunition" to respond to those who claim there is no scientific evidence to support subluxation.

Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fifth Edition Review

Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fifth Edition

I still feel that those people below who feel that this book is the greatest thing since sliced bread are biased and must have some interest in the book. This book does have many contributors.
Here's my frank take on it. If your state requires you to use this book for impairment ratings, you have no choice but to purchasing it. However, be aware that this book is extremely inconsistent and you will certainly have to attend some type of seminars or educational sessions in order to use it effectively.
This book is actually a step backward from previous editions. Each region of the body uses different ratings system and the language is vague at best and in some cases seems to mean opposite of it's intention.
This book will not be able to prepare you for impairment rating. It may only be used as reference after learning the system from someone who has used it.
This book must have gained authority from good lobby rather than quality contents.
