Child Abuse Medical Diagnosis & Management Review

Child Abuse Medical Diagnosis and Management

Among other things, this book has respectful pictures showing clearly both that physical abuse, and also sexual abuse including penetration by fingers and penises, is inflicted upon very small children, including those under three years old (see for example pages 764, 767, 768, 771, 772, 778,). Other pictures show that physical wounds can heal quickly, which I think implies that physical and sexual abuse can occur and be hidden in the household. Please read this book, EVERYONE, and not only professionals.

As a Criminal Investigator that works Child Abuse/Sex Abuse, I found this set to be an excellent source of information. Photographs are quality and help to illuminate the text. Covers intentional and accidental injury. I highly recommend this set to medical professionals who work in this field, especially SANE's. Also recommended for Social Services and Law Enforcment.

I recently attended a child fatality conference for my profession. If you are LE, CPS, or a medical professional who deals with child fatalities involving abuse/neglect, this book is an awesome reference. There are photo examples (careful for the weak stomached) and also a CD rom with additional info. I actually won this and was hoping to at the conference because the price is kind of steep. Anyway, if you investigate child fatalities, this is a great resource to have. I highly recommend it.

Child Fatality Review, which is the result of collaboration between 27 pediatricians, 10 forensic pathologists, 3 coroners, 2 forensic scientists, and an array of other health care, legal, law enforcement, and social service professionals, is the first available text completely devoted to the child fatality review process. It is designed to be the only text current team members, potential team members, and interested nonmembers will need on death review. Illustrated with more than 600 full-color clinical photographs documenting case histories, the book contains a section devoted to common and uncommon causes of child fatalities, including neglect, SIDS, suicide, burning, drowning, infectious diseases, and lightning strikes. This section prepares nonmedical professionals who are not generally exposed to actual deaths for the types of cases they will encounter while on a review tea

This is a MUST have for any nurse practicing as a S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner). Crowley's information is on the mark and written in an informative, very appropriate language. A handy reference while completing an exam or preparing for the next to come.

Child Safety: A Pediatric Guide for Parents, Teachers, Nurses, & Caregivers Review

Child Safety is a "must read" for anyone coming in contact with children, be it parents, teachers, daycare workers, boy scout or girls scout leaders, or anyone else working with children. This book is informative on so may levels, be it administering punishment in a constructive way, recognizing behaviors that signal trouble, preventing accidental injuries, and many more subjects. For the Mandated Reporter (daycare workers, teachers, nurses, social workers, law enforcement agents, etc) I would also recommend Recognition of Child Abuse for the Mandated Reporter, Third Edition
