Nicely covers issues of families and health including how they are affected by socio-economic and cultural factors, how persons define family networks, and the role of nurses with regard to caring for families. Also does a thorough job discussing the theoretical basis of family nursing, gives numerous examples of current research and suggests areas in need of further research.

I am very impressed with this book. It portrays uniqueness of the health care industry of the 1990s in stories lived out by those working in parish nursing. It reveals colorful history of the true inner workings of the health care system of that decade.
Indeed, congregations need to be STIMULATED toward more caring ministries for the elderly as promoted in this book.
