Child Maltreatment: A Clinical Guide and Reference Volume 1, 2nd edition Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)As A Criminal Investigator that works Child Abuse/Sex Abuse I found this book to be an excellent resource. In depth and technical, but easy to understand for the non-medical professional. Also recommend the two-book set. Recommend this book to medical personnel that see or treat children in an emergency or trauma setting. Also for Social Services and Law Enforcemnt.

Written in a frank, plainspoken manner from the vantage of nationally recognized experts, this encyclopedic reference covers all manifestations of abuse, including physical, psychological, and sexual signs. No other reference treats the topic of child maltreatment so completely, giving the practitioner an understanding only years of clinical work could rival. This is especially apparent in its coverage of sexual abuse. While addressing the physical findings, including STDs, in depth, this text emphasizes the most important components of the process-disclosure by, and interview of, the suspected victim.
