I bought this book in the hope that it would help me sort through the problems involved with this health care issue and find a simple solution. It didn't. What it did tell me is that there is no one way to do this and there is no simple way to do this. All the countries who have a national health care system of some sort, are still "tweaking" their programs.
National Health Care is a work in progress for all those countries involved. Every country has different methods of solving all the needs of all the moneyed people involved. All of the programs are pull-your-hair-out confusing. They all involve a maze of convoluted procedures designed to drop a buck in everybody's pocket - the doctors, the hospitals, the insurance companies and whoever. None of them are easy. And none of them make everybody in their respective countries happy.
But yet the majority of the people in those countries who have tackled this problem, do not want the American so called "free market" solution. No way! It does seem that the "free market" is the problem and not the solution - once again. It is not a solution. It is no solution.
We really don't want a free market. We want a "fair market" - with lots of regulators and people checking on THE MONEY - where it is going and who is getting it.
The single payer system is the simplest but it won't happen here in the U.S. So we will bungle along with Australia and all the others. Arguing and yelling for years to come.Books written by Richard Noble - The Hobo Philosopher:
